Artist's Note: This painting was created entirely on location in two settings. The brushwork is clear to see. There is a freshness evident in this piece that happens only once in a while. Due to a highly expressive application of the paint and the variety in which it is laid on the canvas, I captured an almost festive mood. This use of primary colors is always dazzling to the senses, and, yet made believable and sophisticated by a range of hues and values. There is no false slickness in this piece. It's freshness is a mark of it's sincerity and directness. It's a quality that I greatly value in painting. I wish I could paint like this every time!
